Born in Feldkirch, Austria, Tanja Rainer lives and works in Vienna, Feldkirch and Slovenia.
She is married to Peter Kogler, artist. They have two children – Vincent and Kaspar.
After initially studying Medicine at the University of Innsbruck, she went on to pursue Architecture at the Technical University of Innsbruck and the Technical University of Vienna. Her academic path was shaped by international experiences and research, including in-depth studies on Julius Shulman and John Lautner in Los Angeles, along with extended stays in New York City, Rome, and Paris.
She gained practical experience through project collaborations in the studio of Helmuth Rainer and with the firm Ospelt and Boss in Liechtenstein.
Since 1995, she has been working as an independent architect in Vienna, focusing on housing and interior design. Her artistic approach is characterized by a deep appreciation for existing architectural structures and a thoughtful response to the natural geographical context. Tanja Rainers work is distinguished by its sensitive treatment of the given subtsance and surroundings.
